They walked arm in arm past the crowds of people waiting for them, waving as they went. However, as soon as they entered the Arena, Ginger dropped back into her usual demeanor, stating Bolin to be "as dumb as the rocks [he] ben[t]" and walked off by herself.
Ginger only noticed Bolin when he was applauded a hero after saving President Raiko and the First Lady. However, while Bolin battled the waterbenders who were after President Raiko, Ginger expressed her concern for him.
After he had saved the President, she rushed out to where Bolin was having his photo taken and kissed him intensely, proclaiming that she could not believe her "boyfriend" was a "real-life hero", leaving Bolin somewhat confused after her previous statement. She quickly brushed aside his bafflement and kissed him again, which Bolin gladly returned.
Bolin first met Korra in the Pro-bending Arena gym, when she was caught wandering about the arena by Toza. He bailed her out, saying she was there with him, accidentally implying that they were "together". While his brother was initially dismissive of Korra, Bolin was quickly attracted to Korra, stating that he had "a good feeling, there [was] somethin' special about her". When a messenger brought Korra a large gift basket in the name of TarrlokBolin expressed concern, immediately inquiring whether that "Tarrlok guy" was bothering her, as he was willing to have a word with him.
When Korra laughed it off, saying that Tarrlok was just "some old guy" on the council, Bolin expressed relief. Bolin asked Mako what he thought of Korra as a potential girlfriend, meaning for himself, though Mako mistook the question. When Mako told Bolin dating her was a bad idea, the earthbender stated that he and Korra were perfect for each other, confessing his crush. Devising a plan to attack from above, she used Varrick's plane to create a diversion with Mako and Bolin, hoping it would provide Korra, Tenzin, Kyaand Bumi with the opportunity to enter the Spirit World.
The plan failed, however, and everyone save for Bumi was imprisoned. After Bumi freed them all, Korra instructed Asami to fly a wounded Tonraq back to the healing huts, while the benders would enter the Spirit World in order to stop Unalaq from merging with Vaatu as well as finding Jinora's spirit. Asami remained at the healing hut with Katara, Tonraq, and Senna, watching over Jinora's body.
When the young airbender awoke, Asami immediately inquired about the safety of her friends and was relieved to hear that Korra had saved the world. Seeing the Avatar lament her poor approval among the citizens, Asami tried to tell her not to take it to heart, believing it to be nothing but frustration. After returning to Air Temple Island, Asami wondered where Mako was, to which Bolin answered that the firebender remained at police headquarters. Soon after, she became witness to Bumi's newfound airbending abilities.
She watched the next day as Bumi attempted to airbend again. Lin and Mako soon visited Air Temple Island and gave the group reports of other airbenders in the city. The young industrialist also watched with concern as Mako acted awkwardly around her and Korra. Asami and Korra went out for a drive, the former offering her friend the keys to a Satomobile, believing she was capable of a relaxing ride. It turned out to be anything but, as she had to give panicked instructions at points.
Once they settled, the two talked about everything that had happened while they were each involved with Mako. Soon, they approached a mass of vines, of which Asami quickly alerted Korra, enabling her to stop just in time. After Team Avatar decided to travel the Earth Kingdom in the search for airbenders, Asami furnished them with a Future Industries airshipbelieving they should travel in style.
When Asami and the group arrived at the first village, they met Kuonthe new airbender, and joined his family for dinner, but the conversation quickly fell apart when he refused to leave his home.
As they left, Asami believed they could have tried harder to convince him to join them. Further visits to villages failed to yield any success, and the group decided to perform an "air show" to help convince other airbenders to join them.
When Korra used her airbending to "capture" Mako, who was playing a firebending convict, overdid it somewhat, both Asami and Korra chuckled with joy. After the show was complete, they managed to recruit just one airbender, a boy named Kaiwho claimed his parents were killed by outlaws. Instead, the young boy was a thief who was being pursued by the town police force.
